Danish church artist visits Toronto
The artist behind the Danish church's two new altarpieces, Simon Aaen, has visited the church and Toronto. It is the first time he sees the two paintings in the church, and he is delighted with the result:
- I always visit the church and the room where I make art, but it was impossible because of COVID restrictions. So we did it all via Zoom and photos of the church space, Simon Aaen said when he gave a talk in the church on Sunday, 30 October.
- I am thrilled with the result here in Toronto. I think my paintings fit well with the newly renovated church spaces. It is a whole.
Simon Aaen said at his talk that he is interested in painting motifs of nature and religious motifs. In Toronto, he has done both, as the central motif in the paintings is a biblical text about the stormy sea.

Simon Aaen has decorated several other churches in Denmark, but the church in Toronto is the first time he has done a significant decoration abroad.
