Funerals, Memorial Services & Interments
'Af jord er du kommet.
Til jord skal du blive.
Af jorden skal du igen opstå.'
When We Lose a Loved One
When we lose someone we love, we need comfort and reassurance—a place for faith, doubt, and despair.
In the church, there is room for all of that.
What You Need to Do In the days following a death, the bereaved must, amid their grief, make many decisions and handle practical matters. Most people contact a funeral director for assistance with the practicalities.
How the Funeral, memorial service or interment takes place
Before the service, the closest relatives meet with the pastor who will conduct the memorial service or interment.
The relatives talk about their life with the deceased, discuss the details of the service, and choose hymns. Ideally, the deceased has left wishes for the service.
In both a memorial service and interment, the committal is central.
If the deceased is to be buried, the earth is thrown when the coffin is lowered into the grave. If cremation is chosen, the committal takes place in the church or at the cemetary by throwing earth on the urn.
