Baptism in the Danish Church
"Filled with joy over the miracle of life,
with a newborn child in our hands,
we come to You, who gave us life."
The baptism usually takes place during the Sunday morning service at 10.30 a.m. in the presence of the congregation.
Before the day, you will arrange a meeting with the pastor who will perform the baptism.
You should bring the child's birth certificate, the parents' baptismal or name certificates, and, if you are married, a marriage certificate.
Your child will receive a baptismal certificate, and the baptism will be recorded in the church registry.
Also, bring the names and addresses of two to five godparents. The godparents serve as witnesses and must have been baptized with a Christian baptism, such as Lutheran, Anglican, or Catholic.
The baptism can also take place on a Saturday, where we can arrange a special baptism service.
