May 4th: A Day to appreciate freedom that we cannot take for granted
May 4th marks the ending of WW2 in Denmark in 1945. Since then, it has been a tradition that the Danes light candles in the windows that evening in remembrance of Freedom.
During the pandemic, in 2020, it was the 75 years anniversary of the liberation, and the Danish Pastors in the US and Canada did a video greeting from North America to our Danish, American and Canadian friends.
The greeting is more relevant than ever, in a world where neighbours fight each other instead of living in Peace - where some think the best solution is seeking war instead of seeking peace. Please join the pastors in candle lighting and sing along to the beautiful song "A larch ascended" (En lærke letter).
