Here we are, ready to jump... 

... into 2021. I don’t know anyone who would not like to forget about 2020 – especially regarding Covid. The pandemic is still with us, and still causing problems for most of us. But, with the aid of new vaccines being slowly made available for us, we can now see a light at the end of the tunnel which is gradually getting brighter. We have to remain vigilant to keep our families and friends safe, and we will get there. 

The Toronto area has been in a lockdown for the last four weeks, and now the rest of the province is as well for another four weeks. Until further notice, we will have Sunday Service videos for each Sunday that we are locked away from our church. Check the website for the latest information. We are lucky and very grateful that we can reach out to you that way, and for the support you have shown with both participation and donations.

Despite being in a lockdown – we still have plans to keep you and the church “busy”. Many of you will receive a book of lottery tickets for the Valentine’s Lottery, which is being drawn on February 14. It will be the same as before with on-line purchases and payments (or cheques in the mail). Check out the note elsewhere in this newsletter and/or on the website. As always – we look forward to your support and participation.

Please also look at the note regarding our proposed sanctuary upgrade. The pictures are an artist’s conception of what we are hoping to do. Despite Covid, we still need to get our church ready again for “business”, and would like to start this sometime in the spring if lockdowns are lifted. But regardless of the pandemic status, we still need your input and comments to give us a good idea of your thoughts. Share by phone or email to Simon or me or any board member. 

Finally, our Zoom AGM went well with over 40 participants. Thank you to those who participated. It was good practice in case we have to do that again. As there were no additional nominations, the people standing for re-election to the board were accepted by acclamation, and the officers will keep the same positions as before – so you will have to put up with me for at least another year. 

One small note – we have changed our e-transfer process to be automatic so we don’t have to struggle with security questions and answers. You will be asked to double check your data before you press “send” – and we feel this should be enough of a notice to make sure you are sending payments to our church.

This church is still alive and well thanks to our Pastor and Board – and you – our members and supporters. Best wishes for a happy and safe New Year!!
