The Pastor's Corner: Let's raise the flags

There is a lot to be thankful for! There is a lot to celebrate! And when something is to be celebrated, there must be flags on the table, on the cake and high up on the flagpole. The church has two new flagpoles, which were raised in late June, just before the church could reopen in July! I would like to hoist the flags every Sunday in July because it is fantastic that we can finally meet for worship, for church cafe and soon also many of the other cultural events we like to gather for in our church.

The pandemic has shown me how important it is that we have a church - and it has made clear to me what I knew: that Christianity is basically about our relationships as human beings and with God. Therefore, one cannot do Christianity alone!

But the pandemic has placed restrictions on our relationships, and we have been cut off from being together and doing what we want - together. The restrictions have been there to take care of the vulnerable. Now that the restrictions are easing we still have to take care of the vulnerable and each other.

Corona has shown us the importance of togetherness. The important thing is getting together and doing something together. Let us be thankful that it is finally possible to sing together, work together, party together, celebrate worship together, watch soccer together, laugh and cry together.

I am very much looking forward to getting together - hopefully all summer, autumn, and winter - because we have a lot to catch up on.

And when we do, let us hoist the beautiful flags - both the Canadian and the Danish Dannebrog.

Have a blessed Summer!
